Seán was born in Paris in 1904, the son of Major John MacBride and Maud Gonne. He remained in paris until the execution of his father in 1916 following the Easter Rising.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1974 for his work in founding or participating in numerous international organisations including Amnesty International
